All the streets decorated for the 2021 Festa Major de Sants

The traditional decorations on the streets and squares for the Sants Festival are also having to adapt to the health situation this year and there will only be aerial decorations, which means no decorated façades or figures on the ground. Likewise, the streets will be closed to traffic during the assembly and removal of these “ceilings” to ensure easy passage and access to the festival sites, and to prevent overcrowding.

In this year’s Festa Major de Sants you will find eight decorated spaces, thanks once again to the talent and dedication of local residents who take part in the festival committees. In Plaça de Bonet i Muixí the committees of Carrer de Papin and Carrer Sagunt have got together with Lleialtat Santsenca, and have decorated the square, also with collaboration from the Col·lectiu d’Artistes de Sants. With the restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has not been easy to design and produce these decorations, or organise the festival. This year also sees the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Carrer de Finlàndia and Carrer d’Alcolea de Baix, which reached this milestone last year but was unable to commemorate it due to the health situation.

These are the decorations you will find this year when you look towards the sky on the streets and squares participating in the Sants annual festival:

  • RobrenyoAirsoft Field with camouflage colours and targets.
  • Alcolea de Dalt: colourful spirals, balls and fringing.
  • Alcolea de Baix: colourful fabrics to celebrate the 40th anniversary + 1.
  • Valladolid: forest of flowers.
  • Sagunt + Papin + Lleialtat: canopy with floral motifs in Plaça de Bonet i Muixí.
  • Guadiana: a sea full of fishes.
  • Finlàndia: they are celebrating the 40th anniversary by bringing back figures from historic decorations.
  • Farga: ceiling with colourful strips.

The festival committees from Carrer del Vallespir (Dalt and Baix) are not taking part in this year’s festival but they are getting ready to join in next year. In fact, Vallespir de Baix have already decided to create a tribute to Raffaella Carrà for the Festa Major de Sants 2022.

Given the restrictions imposed due to the pandemic, the traditional decorated street competition will not be taking place. However, Sants 3 Ràdio will be organising its popular competition, based on public votes; these prizes will be handed out on Saturday 28 August at 12 noon in a ceremony on Carrer de Valladolid.
