Documentary photographer

Barcelona, 1991. Maria Contreras Coll is a documentary photographer with a degree in Fine Arts and a postgraduate degree in Photojournalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She was an Explorer for National Geographic in 2020–2021 and is a member of Women Photograph. 

Her work has been published in The New York TimesThe Washington Post and Marie Claire, among other outlets, and has been displayed in cities such as Dubai, London and Barcelona. This lecturer and mentor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona won the POY Latam Award for her work in Nepal, and was awarded the National Culture Prize 2021 by the Government of Catalonia.
