Senior Architect

With a Degree from the Barcelona School of Architecture (UPC), where he was an associate professor of projects (until 1991) and has since been an EU tenured professor. 

He has worked in both the private and public sectors, and collaborated with the Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (IMPU) and the Olympic Holding during the urban transformation process for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Montiel worked in Barcelona City Council’s Housing Department in the late 1990s and subsequently in the Urban Planning Department. Other positions include Director of Urban Planning for the 22@ district (2003-2006) and Managing Director of the Barcelona Regional agency (2006-2011), where he has been Deputy Director General since 2011.
