The Barcelona Guitar Trio with Carolina Morgado and José M. Álvarez

The Barcelona Guitar Trio pays tribute to Paco de Lucía

The concerts, which will take place at Palau de la Música, will also feature a dance performance by José M. Álvarez and Carolina Morgado.

Francisco Sánchez Gómez, better known as Paco de Lucía, was one of the most prestigious and best known flamenco music guitarists of all time. Born in Algeciras in 1947, he died in Mexico four years ago and his lasting legacy is the airs of renewal he brought to flamenco with the addition of percussionists and a jazz-like approach. Barcelona’s Palau de la Música regularly hosts performances by the Barcelona Guitar Trio, which is made up of Manuel González, Xavier Coll and Luis Robisco, in which they pay tribute to De Lucía. At the moment there are eight concerts scheduled until February.

For these performances at the iconic Catalan modernist concert venue, the Barcelona Guitar Trio will be accompanied by Paquito Escudero on percussion and the bailaores José M. Álvarez and Carolina Morgado. Together, they will perform works by Paco de Lucia, together with pieces by Isaac Albéniz, Manuel de Falla, Federico García Lorca and Chick Corea.
