The poster for Festival Simfònic 2018

More than 40 concerts in Barcelona in the Simfònic 2018 Festival

The festival sees music school students playing at Civic Centres; museums, libraries and auditoriums.

Take note of the day and time: Saturday, 9 June at 6pm. At that exact time, around a hundred concerts will be played simultaneously throughout Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. In the 8th edition of the Festival Simfònic, more than 5,000 music school students will make it possible for instruments and voices to sound out in a lot of different places, some of which are far from being normal concert venues. Barcelona will host over 40 free performances in a variety of styles and, of course, at 7pm, everyone will play the well-known gospel song Oh Happy Day!, in honor of the coral formation Barcelona Gospel Messengers, who are the godfathers of the current edition.

The initiative emerged in 2011 with the main objective of showcasing the work done in music schools. Another unique element of the event is the pairing that is achieved between the music and the architecture of the venue where the concert takes place. The Born Center for Culture and Memory, the Picasso Museum, the Harlem Jazz Club, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences - Clínic Campus, FNAC, the Palau Macaya, the Conciliar Seminary, Montjuïc Castle, Tibidabo Amusement Park, hostels, libraries, civic centres, youth clubs... music will reach countless corners of the city! You just need to choose where you want to go and let yourself be seduced by the performances of these young musicians. You’ll find performances featuring classical music, swing, jazz, piano recitals, choral singing, as well as pop-rock, funk, rap and hip hop, together with traditional folk music, electronica and DJ sessions.
