La Traviata

‘La Traviata’: evenings of opera at Palau de la Música

Three staged opera performances of Verdi’s tragic story of a woman seeking absolute love.

Barcelona’s Palau de la Música is not a frequent venue for opera performances but when it is, the works performed tend to be top class. While concert versions of opera play here occasionally it is rare to see a fully staged opera performed given the dimensions of the place. But this August sees no fewer than three performances of a staged version of La Traviata with a full cast in a production by Nova Aria & Bohemia’s, featuring Orquestra Terrassa 48, conducted by Xavier Puig, except on 3 August, when the conducter will be Gabriela Zabala of Orquestra da Capo.

La Traviata is the world’s most frequently performed opera. In this production, the figure of Violetta Valery will be played by Sarah Zhai Strauss, with tenor Sergi Giménez as her Alfredo Germont. The first line cast also features Alberto Cazes (Giorgio Germont).

You’ll find additional informaiton about these performances of La Traviata on the  Palau website, where you can also buy tickets.
