Nights of History and Legend in the Palau Requesens

The evening includes a night-time tour of the Gothic district, a dinner inspired by medieval cuisine and a talk about history

The Palau Requesens, Barcelona, the current headquarters of the Reial Acadèmia de les Bones Lletres (Royal Academy of Literature) and the largest residential building that existed in medieval times, is the starting point for weekend (Fridays and Saturdays) Nights of History and Legend, an activity that combines a tour of the Gothic district, a dinner and a chat about history.

The evening begins at 7.45 pm with a 50 minute guided tour of the more recondite niches of the Gothic district in an attempt to uncover the hidden face of the past, the inside story of history, as it were.
The activity is open to all audiences and continues with a set-menu dinner (with vegetarian option) based on Catalan cuisine of the 14th and 15th centuries, a rich and refined cuisine that included a surprisingly wide variety of sauces. The dinner, served in the Tinellet Room of the palace, is the creation of the executive chef of Paradís Gourmet, Miquel Guimerà.

After dinner, an expert historian will give a brief conference on the city’s past. On Saturday, the 31st of August, humanities expert Alba Casamorona will be talking about witches, warlocks and necromancy. Beginning in September, the activity will take place on Friday nights and will offer talks about food, beauty and hygiene and historical figures from medieval times.
