A scene from 'All by Myself'

Casa Milà: a meeting point for the performing arts

From 10 to 31 May, the cycle 'Noves Escenes' takes proposals that mix music, movement, word, video and objects to La Pedrera.

With the staging of Lo mínimo, Cris Blanco, Guillem Mont de Palol and Jorge Dutor, will open the cycle Noves Escenes a La Pedrera on 10 May. In the words of its organizers, the cycle aims to demonstrate the “vitality and diversity of the contemporary theatre scene". The four performances scheduled, which will take place every Thursdays at 8pm, blend elements of movement, music, word, video and/or objects to act as a platform for the contemporary performing arts, for emerging creators and especially for the figure of the performing artist, "because he/she is an agent with the potential and ability to generate proposals that bring transformative, emotional, critical, aesthetic and spiritual values to society".

The opening performance will be the premiere of the work, which is produced by the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera. The same is the case of the second work on the programme, Uti et Abuti, which is a creation by Roger Bernat/FFF. In Lo minimo, three unique artists come together from a need to question genres and rethink art, while Uti et Abuti bears the hallmark of Roger Bernat's approach to the theatre, a collective laboratory in which the spectators, more than witnesses, become perplexed actors in a drama in which they refuse to be mere victims bur accept the risk of becoming executioners.

The third work, on 24 May, will be performed by the VVAA collective. It is titled Like si lloras and “speaks of us, of how our desire to leave a mark can become an act of love, an engine of change or a trap for vanity". The cycle will come to a close on the last day of May with All by Myself, which is written, acted and directed by Alejandro Curiel, who will be accompanied on stage by Guillem Barbosa and the music of Laura Maure and Matilde Campano Pando.

Jordi Fondevila is the artistic advisor of this cycle, which has already seen six successful editions. For more information, check out the following link.
