Everything you need to know about Catalan Modernism in one place.
At the Museum of Modernist Barcelona you'll not only find an extensive collection of carefully-chosen artworks, but also everything you need to learn about one of the artistic movements that have shaped the city. The collection includes a wide variety of works that define Catalan artistic heritage, framed at a crucial time in the history of Barcelona, a moment when the city found its identity. Thanks to Catalan modernism, the local version of Art Nouveau, artisan trades were elevated to the category of art, as the upper class began to acquire original and unique products. The Museum of Modernist Barcelona seeks to contextualize its exhibits, opening a window onto the past that can help us to understand the period, including examples of furniture, the decorative arts, paintings and sculptures.
The Museum of Modernist Barcelona has works by Gaudí, Casas, Busquets, Rusiñol, Blay, Lemon and many other artists and creators and is open to visitors from Monday to Friday from 10.30 am to 2pm and from 4pm to 7pm.
