Latin American Documentaries at the Women's Film Festival

'Cuatreros', 'Ejercicios de memoria' and 'El pacto de Adriana' will all be screened at the Cinemes Girona.

In collaboration with Casa América, Latin American Documentalists, a cycle that makes up part of the 26th International Women’s Film Festival, will be bringing three films to the screens of Cinemas Girona these days: Cuatreros by Albertina Carri, Ejercicios de memoria by Paz Encina and El pacto de Adriana by Lissete Orozco. According to the organizers, what the three productions have in common is that they are examples of how official history hides personal realities that would not take place nor see the light if not for the fortunate and persistent questioning by family, individuals and professionals.

In the Argentine production Cuatreros, which will be screened on 20 April, Albertina Carri follows the trail of Isidro Velázquez, the last gaucho in the country and a fugitive from justice. A week later, in Ejercicios de memoria, Paraguayan director Paz Encina recreates the memories of the children of Agustín Goiburú, an opponent of the dictatorial regime of Alfredo Stroessner. Finally, on 4 May, in El pacto de Adriana, Lissette Orozco depicts the cross-generational conflict generated by the silence that haunts many Chilean families following the Pinochet dictatorship.

All sessions begin at 8pm. Additional information is available at the following link.
