Detall del Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau

The largest Catalan Modernist Ensemble in the World

The Hospital de Sant Pau complex can be visited every day of the week, either privately or with a guide

For a whole century this complex of buildings functioned as the Hospital de la Santa Creu i de Sant Pau. The transfer of the healthcare service activities to newer and more modern facilities, however, allowed for the rehabilitation of the pavilions designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, and nowadays this Catalan modernist ensemble is a magnificent symbol of a whole era. The Sant Pau Catalan Modernist Ensemble is open to visitors every day, though we recommend the guided visits to savour all of the details of its architecture and history. Guided tours are available in Catalan, Spanish, English and French, and in other languages if ordered in advance. The tour lasts one hour.

In the summer, the complex is more buzzing than ever since this year it is part of the Barcelona Catalan Modernist Route and visitors can take advantage of the half price discounts offered by this initiative from 1 July to 15 September. This is therefore an excellent way to explore this art-nouveau gem, which is a UNESCO heritage site.
