La Fura dels Baus are back in Barcelona with 'Carmina Burana'
The Tivoli Theatre is to host the performance from the 10th to the 13th of March
La Fura dels Baus are coming back to Barcelona next weekend with one of their best-known stage shows, Carmina Burana, an adaptation of Carl Orff’s scenic cantata. More than 100,000 people have seen the performance on its world tour, which has taken it to Europe, Asia and South America. The company’s return to Barcelona always raises expectations since, despite having been formed in the city, their performances here are few and far between, the last ones being MURS and Degustación Titus Andrónicus.
La Fura have their own artistic language and their own approach to the scenic arts. They are sought after by international promoters for all types of productions. For this version of Carmina Burana they have created a daring staging in which the spectator is immersed in the powerful music of Carl Orff through a potent mixture of scenes, special effects and even fragrances.
On stage is a giant cylinder measuring ten metres in diameter that literally surround the orchestra and singers and also serves as a screen onto which images are projected that illustrate the work including a giant moon, the thaw, waterfalls, floral ecstasy, a live harvest, wine, water and fire, making for an unforgettable theatre experience.
