'La Bohème' is back at the Liceu

This English National Opera production will be at Barcelona’s opera house on the Ramblas for 14 performances

One of the most popular works in the lyrical genre, La Boheme is coming to Barcelona’s Liceu opera house with 14 performances from the 18th of June to the 8th of July and will give the city’s opera fans the chance to see an iconic work featuring some of the world’s top talent.

This production is by London’s English National Opera, with musical direction by Marc Piollet and stage direction by the ever-popular Jonathan Miller, who has have prepared a version of the story set in the 1930s featuring a film like aesthetics that is far removed from the realistic atmosphere of classical adaptations.


Debuting at the Liceu are sopranos Tatiana Monogarova and Nathalie Monfrino, in the roles of Mimí and Musetta. Another newcomer to Barcelona is the tenor Matthew Polezani who will play the part of Rodolfo, while Olga Kluchynska, winner of the Tenor Viñas 2015, on the other hand, is already familiar to local opera aficionados.
