'July Evenings' music cycle at Montjuïc Castle

Concerts featuring jazz, soul, bossa nova and gypsy jazz every Sunday evening

A new music cycle is making its debut in Barcelona. The venue: the privileged location that is Montjuïc Castle, offering views of the sea and the chance to listen to music while having a drink. The timetable: every Sunday evening in July from 7pm to 10pm. The style of the participants: from jazz to bossa nova and from soul to gypsy jazz. The name of the cycle: July Evenings. Price of admission: free. There is a shuttle bus scheduled to run from the castle from 9pm on.

The Valentí Moya Trio is scheduled to kick off the cycle on 3 July. Its three members are pioneers of gypsy jazz in Catalonia. A week later it’s the turn of In the Mood: an all female trio consisting of guitar, drums and two voices who are committed to a new contemporary musical concept that incorporates touches of chill out, bossa nova and jazz. On 17 July, JM & I Soul will take the stage with its three members who are inspired by soul, nu-soul, jazz and ethnic sounds. The cycle will be closed by the Nova Quartet, a formation who simply play the music they love, be it jazz, blues or pop, with plenty of space for improvisation.
