Music documentaries on summer evenings at Poble Espanyol

The films to be screened are 'Monterey Pop' and 'Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami'.

The In-Edit music documentary festival has been making Barcelona one of the focal points in the sector for over 15 years. Although the festival itself is held in October, there are related events scheduled throughout the year, both in Barcelona and internationally. In this case, the festival has got together with the Poble Espanyol to screen two documentaries on two different evenings over the summer.

The first film, on 27 July, is 'Monterey Pop', one of the best concert films in history, which is now fifty years old. This is the perfect occasion to learn about this iconic festival, which was held in California in 1967 and became an icon of the American counterculture of the late 60s. The film features magnificent performances by Otis Redding, The Who, The Animals, Jefferson Airplane, Ravi Shankar, Simon & Garfunkel and, of course, Jimi Hendrix (who you can see setting fire to his guitar).

The second film, on 28 August, is 'Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami', which will be screened here for the first time in Barcelona. It’s an unconventional portrait of Grace Jones as a complete artist and a free spirit: an androgynous glam-pop diva, a model, a mother... someone who defies all labels.
