Gala iBStage al Liceu

iBStage Gala at the Liceu

The gala is a showcase for young talent aiming to become dancers

iBStage was created in Italy 8 years ago with the aim of spotting and fostering young and talented dancers on the path to becoming professionals. The basis of the initiative is an intensive high-level course taught by a team of teachers from the leading Spanish and international companies and academies. By following this course, the participants acquire and perfect their technique and gain experience. The training course culminates in the two dance galas that are scheduled to take place this year on 27 and 28 August at the Liceu Opera House.

The show also features leading figures from prestigious dance companies and a dance troupe with 100 dancers. Xiomara Reyes (prima ballerina at the American Ballet Theater) and Elías García (of the Ballets du Monte Carlo) are the artistic directors of an event that take the form of a high-quality dance performance aimed at both the general public and fans of precise and technically pure dance.

Among the guest performers this year are leading figures like Mariinsky, the American Ballet, the Royal Ballet, the Opera de Berlin, the San Francisco Ballet and the English National Ballet. The repertoire consists of classical pieces such as S'interpretaran algunes de les coreografies més interessants del repertori clàssic com el The Dying Swan, the Pas de deux of the Black Swan, Don Quixote, Giselle, Diana and Actaeone and Tchaikovsky’s Pas de Deux. The programme also features pieces from the contemporary and neo-classical repertoire by composers such as Hans Van Manen, Goyo Montero and David Dawson.
