Jorge Drexler to open a new edition of GuitarBCN

Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, Rosario and India Martínez are among the artists who will be coming to the city’s stages.

A new edition of the GuitarBCN is here, and the bill of artists is more than promising. In total the festival will be offering 35 concerts in different venues in the city from 27 January to 26 June. As always, the festival programme is eclectic, though all of the invited performers share the same connection with the guitar as their main instrument. Tickets are now on sale.

Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler will open proceedings by presenting a new album at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Veteran UK band Deacon Blue, who are about to celebrate 30 years in the profession, will be appearing at Barts on  1 February and India Martínez will fill be filling the Sant Jordi Club with her pop sounds on the 17th of the same month. Rozalén, on 22 February at Palau de la Música, and José Ignacio Lapido on 23 February at Apollo [2], will round of the month. But that’s just the beginning, because artists like Rosario, Rosalía & Raül Refree, Maria Arnal and Marcel Bagés, Sabor de Gracia, Obeses, Wim Mertens, Antonio Carmona, Karen Souza and Asaf Avidan are just some of the names that will follow them. And two of the possibly best-known performing artists in the world are set to appear in GuitarBCN. Bob Dylan will be appearing at the Liceu on 30 and 31 March, while Ringo Starr, at the ripe old age of 77, will debut in Barcelona with a star studded band at Palau Sant Jordi on 26 June.
