El Rec Comtal. Com l'aigua dibuixa la ciutat is the name of the itinerary that El Born CCM is organising on Sundays in October.
Whenever there are a lot of people, in a city like Barcelona, for example, they are going to need a lot of water - for drinking, for cooking and for washing with – and the Born Center of Culture and Memory conserves the remains of many of the city’s old water infrastructures, including sewers, wells, septic tanks and conducts. A guided tour of these remains, which date from the year 1700, together with an outdoor urban itinerary in the district of La Ribera aims to show the participants how the city’s complex water supply and removal network worked some three centuries ago.
The guided tour is called El Rec Comtal. Com l'aigua dibuixa la ciutat and will be carried out in Catalan. The Rec Condal was an important water channel whose construction dates back to the 10th century and which was still operational until the 19th century. The tour will also pay attention to other water-related structures, such as sinks, fountains and latrines.
