First edition of b’Ars in the Arts Santa Mònica

The country’s first international fair dedicated to art and visual effects for film, television and video games will take place from the 5th to the 8th of June

From the 5th to the 8th of June, the Arts Santa Mònica will host b’Ars, the Barcelona International Arts and VFX Fair, the country’s first international fair dedicated to art and visual effects for film, television and video games, an event directed at sector professionals, students and anyone with an interest in special effects as applied to audio-visual media.

With this in mind, the fair will offer screenings and art-related events as well as master classes and conferences, among which the programme highlights include the presence of North American Ryan Church, the designer of “Star Wars” craft, including the new USS Enterprise, and Colin Doncaster, the creator of Yeti software and winner of an Academy Award.

Among other speakers and presenters, b’Ars is also pleased to welcome Marco di Lucca, the man responsible for the 3D modelling of the creatures in John Carter, Avatar and the latest King Kong, art directors Nicolai Lockersten (Trollhunter) and Virginie Bourdin (Godzilla and X-Men), Andrea Merlo, part of the team for Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and Christopher Horvath, programmer for Google Robotics, Pixar and ILM.

Neither is there any shortage of home-grown talent and renowned professionals in the special effects genre, and the fair will also be attended by Sergio Jiménez, art director for Ender’s Game and founder of Post23 studios, whose main offices are located in Barcelona, and Felix Balvas, director of b’Ars, founder of Minimo VFX studios, whose main offices are also in Barcelona, and one of the people responsible for the monsters in the Harry Potter saga and the characters in Avatar, Lord of the Rings and X-Men, among many other films.

The fair will take place at Arts Santa Monica between 5 and 8 June. In addition to accreditations and subscriptions for professionals and students also will be selling basic tickets for 20 euros per day addressed to the general public. You can find more information at this link.
