Film release of "Mamá", a psychological horror directed by Andrés Muschietti

The film, a Catalan co-production, opens in cinemas on the 8th of February

Mamá is a supernatural thriller that tells the horrific story of two little girls who disappeared in the woods the same day their parents were murdered. Five years later they are beginning a new life with their uncle and his girlfriend. Little by little, however, all of them start to notice an evil, phantasmagorical presence in the house.

A Canadian-Catalan co-production, the film is an extension of an already successful short film by Argentinian Andrés Muschietti. The film targets adepts of psycho-horror and dark ghost stories and managed to reach the top slot of the most-seen films on its release in the USA.

Mamá stars North American actress Jessica Chastain, a rising star who we have seen previously in Zero Dark Thirty, and Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, best known for his role in the Game of Thrones series. The meticulous aesthetic of the film, furthermore, brings us close to the chimeric world of Guillermo del Toro, who in this case acts as producer.
