The Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sitges Film Festival

The anniversary will be commemorated with an exhibition set to open on 5 September.

The Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona (Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona) is joining in with the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Sitges – International Fantasy Fim Festival of Catalonia, one of the best known festivals to take place in Catalonia, which dates from 1968. To do so, the circle is staging an exhibition from 5 to 24 September, curated by Diego López with the aim of introducing the history of the festival to the general public. The title of the exhibition is 50è aniversari Sitges - Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya 1968-2017: Memòria del Fantàstic.

The exhibition is retrospective in nature and visitors will see posters, books, catalogues, notebooks and other types of documents relating to the 49 editions of the festival that have been held to date (the 50th edition is scheduled to take place from 5 to 15 October). This extensive and exhaustive archive will be of particular interest to film fans, especially fantasy and horror film fans.

The Royal Circle recently signed an agreement with the festival and the poster of this year's edition was officially presented at the headquarters of the circle last May, together with some of the latest news concerning the festival.
