An event entitled “Llegint a Pablo Neruda, escoltant a Víctor Jara” (Reading Pablo Neruda, listening to Víctor Jara) will take place on Monday the 18th of November
Lletres de Xile is a free exhibition in Casa América which offers an insight into the literature of the only Latin American country to produce two Nobel prizewinners.
The exhibition reveals the heterogeneous nature of Chile by means of approximately 18 literary engagements and 40 portraits of Chilean authors (the majority of which are the work of photographer Raúl Hernández) accompanied by footnotes in which the authors define themselves. The exhibition includes portraits of poet Vicente Huidobro, renowned novelist Roberto Bolaño, authors with extensive careers such as Gonzalo Rojas and Nicanor Parra as well as other more contemporary authors such as Raúl Zurita and Elicura Chihuailaf.
The exhibition is co-organised by the Chile-Spain Foundation, the Chilean Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Chilean embassy in Spain and Casa América Catalonia and also includes an interactive plastic art installation by Javier Pintocanales and other projects entitled Mapa Literari de Santiago and Traço la Meva Ciutat.
Within the context of the exhibition, Llegint Pablo Neruda, escoltant Víctor Jara has been reprogrammed for Monday the 18th of November. This session, which includes the participation of classical guitar master Eulogio Dávalos and Catalan actors Jaume Comas and Enric Majó, focuses on the two Chilean artists. The spectators are invited to take part in the activity by reading selected poems by Neruda.
