The eighth edition of the BCN Film Fest is here!

One of Barcelona's most important film events is back: the Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival (BCN Film Fest). The event is held from 18 to 26 April at the Cinemes Verdi as its main venue and offers a selection of films from the international scene linked to literature and history in the Official Section programme.

This year, around seventy films will be screened in the different sections, one of which pays tribute to the filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu. In addition, there will be visits from Meg Ryan, Vincent Perez, Paola Cortellesi, Belén Rueda and Richard Linklater, who will receive the Award of Honour and present his latest film.

The film that will open the festival is the dramatic comedy Casa en flames (House on Fire) with a top-notch cast made up of Emma Vilarasau, Enric Auquer, Maria Rodríguez Soto, Alberto San Juan, Clara Segura, Jose Pérez-Ocaña and Macarena García, under the direction of Dani de la Orden. The closing film will be on 26 April with the film Hit Man, directed by Richard Linklater and starring Glen Powell and Adria Arjona.

The Official Section presents films that are literary adaptations, productions related to a historical event or biographical films about a significant personality. You can enjoy twenty-two films such as Caída libre, by Laura Jou; Alumbramiento, by Pau Teixidor; Descansa en paz, by Thea Hvistendahl; Phantom Youth, by Luàna Bajrami; or Joan Baez: I am a noise, by Karen O'Connor, Miri Navasky and Maeve O'Boyle. 

The Cinema amb Gràcia section will also be present, offering films from all over the world, with a preference for popular productions with stories such as Yôji Yamada's A Mother from Tokyo and Monia Chokri's Simple as Sylvain. 

In the Open Zone, you will discover films that are relevant but do not fit into the Official Selection, such as Calladita, by Miguel Faus; Montserrat, integral 107, by Biel Macià; and Segon origen, by Carles Porta and Bigas Luna.  

Don't forget Art at the cinema, a section that presents documentaries to immerse yourself in the pictorial work of artists such as Anselm, by Wim Wenders, and Jeff Koons: A Private Portrait, by Pappi Corsicato. 

The filmography of Yasujirō Ozu is the protagonist of Imprescindibles, a section dedicated to the classics of auteur cinema. This year, it presents twelve films by the Japanese director, including Tales from Tokyo, Late Spring and Good Morning, as well as Wim Wenders' film Tokyo-Ga, which explores Ozu's universe.

You can explore heterodox Asian genre cinema at Asian Madness, in collaboration with CineAsia. Here you will find diverse cinematographic proposals such as Kunf Fu Sion, by Stephen Chow; One Cut Of The Dead, by Shin'ichirô Ueda; or Leonor Will Never Die, by Martika Ramirez Escobar. 

If you want to discover new visions, the Nous Talents competition section presents eleven short films made by students from different Catalan universities and film schools.

In addition, activities will be organised in parallel to the screenings, focusing on literature and art with cultural proposals in collaboration with Casa Seat, the Institut Français, CaixaForum and the Vila del Llibre - La Perla 22.
