Early 20th century music on Fridays in Park Güell

The concerts are free and are scheduled to take place every Friday in July

Trio Nuages, which consists of Pol Abellan on the flute, Nuria Garcia on the viola, and Esther Pinyol on the harp, are set to open Fridays in Park Güell, with a recital that features works by Granados, Debussy, Joseph Jongen and Fauré. This will be the first of four concerts scheduled to take place in July in the incomparable setting of a park designed by Antoni Gaudí, and which have the common aim of taking listeners back in time to the Barcelona of the early 20th century, when the city maintained a close connection with Paris and Brussels.

All of the concerts will begin at 10pm and admission is free. The second Friday of the month will see a performance by Nexus piano duo, with Mireia Fornells and Joan Miquel Hernández-Sagrera. On 15 July, Trio Fortuny will take to the stage, with Marc Heredia on piano, Joel Bardolet on the violin and Pau Codina on the cello. Finally, on 22 July, the violinist Josep Colomé and cellist David Apellàniz will interpret works by Gaspar Cassadó, Maurice Raval and Eugene Ysaye.

The Fridays in Park Güell concerts are organised by the Museu d’Història de la Ciutat.
