Drap Art to get Barcelona buzzing with artistic recycling

The festival will take place in different venues around the city from 16 to 31 December

Art venues including the Centre de Cultura Contemporània, CCCB, MACBA and Arts Santa Mònica, and public spaces such as Plaça Reial, Plaça dels Àngels and the Rambla are set to host the forthcoming edition of the Drap Art Festival from 16 to 31 December. This year’s edition of the international art recycling festival will see the participation of 68 artists and a total of 120 artworks that have already been on display at the prestigious Re:NEW Festival in Pittsburgh. Also on display this year is a handpicked selection of outstanding pieces from the 20 years of the festival.

Among the new developments this year is a marathon of live creation in the hall of CCCB from 11am to 10pm on 16, 17 and 18 December. And the festival programme also features workshops, performances and music. The international aspect of the festival will be underlined by the Montevideo-Pittsburgh-Barcelona fashion show, scheduled at 7pm on Saturday 17 December.

Among the artists who have already confirmed their attendance are consolidated creators and groups such as LUVE, Sienta la Cabeza, Dj Halsen #1, and Eli Gras. José Goñi will be teaching in one of the most striking workshops, which is devoted to making drones from scrap material. Another highlight is the debate Territory and Art, which will present Plataforma Vértices and its working hubs in Latin America.
