Details of modernism in La Pedrera

La Pedrera gives us the opportunity to delve into the details and the trades of the artistic movement with "Modernism. Art workshops, industries", besides offering a variety of parallel activities

The artistic movement of the late nineteenth century, which proposed a single ideal of beauty taking nature as a model, and that was essentially applied in architecture and design and the decorative arts, and visual arts such as painting and sculpture as well, is always worth of a new approach and review. Catalan modernism was beyond an aesthetic movement, to become an ideological trend driven by the desire to achieve new forms and ideas that would shape the concept of modernity.
The exhibition Modernisme. Art, tallers, indústries highlights the artistic trades that had a more prominent role in this movement. Also, the sample claims the work of the many craft workshops and various industries that contributed to implement it, by restoring old procedures and the introduction of new materials and techniques for better and more competitive products and, moreover, the incorporation of modern commercial distribution systems to satisfy the rowing demand.

It is for all known that modernism took root especially in Barcelona, where the construction of the Eixample forced a strong growth in construction and industry, and from there its forms and motivations spread across the country to form a legacy that is one of the most important cultural heritage of Catalonia.
In addition to the exhibition, as usual, the Catalunya-La Pedrera Foundation presents a program of parallel activities, so that the public has the opportunity to deepen the content from dynamic points of view. Around
Modernisme. Art, tallers, indústries a series of special visits are made, called Les arts aplicades a la Pedrera (7 €), which will take us from exposure to other areas of La Pedrera several weekends in October and December, a round table around design (€ 3 with access to the exhibition) scheduled for Wednesday, October 29 at 19h, and a special concert vermouth (8 €) entitled Les músiques del modernisme, starring Lluís Grané at the piano, Sunday January 24 at 12pm.
