The square will host a sample of games by the group from Taradell during the fourth edition of the event, that will take place on the 12th and 13th of December
Among the new areas of the fourth edition of the DAU Festival, organized by the Institute of Culture, the event will feature the Canòdrom-Creative Research Park. In that space, the company Guixot 8 will install its imaginative and spectacular creations, which will be available to attendees. The magical and poetic games of this group of creators from Taradell, reminiscent of the classic "TBO inventions", are made from recovered materials and spent years creating sensations worldwide. This year the DAU will have the privilege to welcome and offer them to the citizens of Barcelona in the Canòdrom, a facility which will open early next year.
Guixot 8 is the first Catalan and statewide company that turns the game into a street performance. They take up the baton from the popular and pole games so ingrained in our country, and also being one of the first companies in Europe that carries games to the streets and squares. But Guixot 8 is the first one to do it with original games, self-made and built with salvaged materials, from scraps or recycling tips. Guixot 8 was born in the framework of the Fira of the Peseta of Tona and in 1991 when Joan Rovira founded the group for the occasion of the Festival of Sant Pere de Rubi, where it was a success. Since then, Guixot 8 has been growing exponentially over the years and have hundreds of members worldwide.
Besides Guixot 8, and before the DAU, the Canòdrom Park will host on december 9th, at 17h, the round table "Meeple Gear Solid. Different tools, Are different creations?" Moderated by Anton Planells. In addition, on thursday december the 10th, at 19h, the park for creative research will hold the inaugural conference of the DAU entitled "The board game as a tool for personal development" will be held, by Nuria Guzman, a psychologist and specialist in neuroscience.
