Cuixart and Tharrats at the Mayoral gallery

Exhibitions that aims to rediscover these artists and promote interest in their work around the world

Barcelona’s Mayoral gallery is hosting an exhibition in which we can find 27 works, including oil paintings, drawings and one sculpture, produced in one of the most transcendent moments of Cuixart’s career, from 1949 to 1964. This period is the most important and is related to his participation in the magazine Dau al Set, created in 1948 and after that to informalism.

This is a major exhibition, in the words of the gallery’s director, Jordi Mayoral: “The  exhibition aims to rediscover this artist and promote interest in his work around the world. It includes a digital publication and is the result of a painstaking and exhaustive process of research that has taken a year, carried out in collaboration with the Fundació Cuixart".

In another exhibition, the gallery aims to rediscover the artistic career of Tharrats through a unique, innovative presentation that allows the visitor to discover the importance and impact of his revolutionary way to create art. This carefully selected showcase of his works is the result of a year-long process of research and includes 15 pieces, including drawings, paintings and his iconic macalatures, focussing especially on the Dau al Set group era. The exhibition on Cuixart can be seen until the 26th of May and that on Tharrats is scheduled to run to 28th of August.
