Following the success of the last edition – the biggest so far – the Cruïlla Barcelona Festival returns to the Parc del Fòrum with renewed energy. This year’s festival will take place from the 11th to the 13th of July with headlining performances by the likes of Macklemore, Jack Johnson and Band of Horses.
Macklemore is one of the USA’s preeminent rap artists and his association with producer and musician Ryan Lewis led to his latest release garnering four Grammy awards this year, among a host of other distinctions.
Damon Albarn, Brit-pop icon with legendary band, Blur, will perform on this occasion with The Heavy Seas, while folk-rock singer Jack Johnson will present his latest release, From Here to Now to You.
The festival will also provide an opportunity to enjoy a live performance by Band of Horses, the Seattle band who were forced to cancel their appearance at last year’s Primavera Sound at the last minute.
Vetusta Morla, from Madrid, are another of this year’s highlights, and will present their latest release in addition to performing an extensive repertoire of their best songs. Other highlights of the festival will include performances by Zaz, the current revelation on the French music scene, Calle 13, who will also present their latest release, Multi Viral, the intimist pop of Angus and Julia Stone, the Balkan folk music of film-maker Emir Kusturica and The Non Smoking Orchestra, the swing of Imelda May and the folk-country-blues-rock fusion of John Butler.
Catalan music will be represented by featured bands from the contemporary scene, including Blaumut, Joan Dausà, Maria Rodés, Za!, Sara Pi, Oques Grasses and Nueva Vulcano.
