The OCM conductor Salvador Mas

An ode to romanticism in music

Salvador Mas to conduct the OCM Chamber Music Symphony Orchestra in a concert featuring works by Schubert, Brahms and Josef Strauss.

Three visions of Austria in the 19th century - that’s how the Palau de la Música describes the concert that it will host on Sunday, 10 February - a tribute to romanticism in music performed by the Chamber Music Symphonic Orchestra (OCM) conducted by Salvador Mas. The programme includes three works: Symphony No. 8 in B minor by Franz Schubert, which is also known as the "Unfinished" symphony, the polka-mazurka Die Libelle, by Josef Strauss, and the Symphony No. 2 in D major by Johannes Brahms. The concert will begin at 5.30 pm.

The OCM, which was created in 2006, has as its mission the popularization of classical music among young audiences. Tomàs Grau has been the main conductor and artistic director since the beginning, while Salvador Mas has been the main guest conductor since 2017-2018. Born in Barcelona, Mas trained at the Escolania de Montserrat and at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Barcelona. He studied Orchestral and Choral Direction at the Superior School of Music and Dramatic Arts of Vienna. His professional career began at the Opera of Mainz, and he went on to conduct the City Orchestra of Barcelona and subsequently the Orfeó Català. He has conducted the main Spanish orchestras and has been the principal conductor of the Württemberg Philharmonic Orchestra (Germany), the Chamber Orchestra of Israel and the Limburg Symphony Orchestra of Maastrich (Netherlands) .
