‘Catarsi’: a charity concert by the JONC orchestra

The orchestra aims to raise money for Projecte Home Catalunya

The Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya  (JONC) is a consolidated youth orchestra in Catalonia, having been founded in 1993. It was originally created by Josep Pons and is now directed by Manel Valdivieso. The aim of the orchestra is to help in the reintegration of young people, as well as raising money for a number of social support projects.

With Catarsi on 8 January, the orchestra aims to raise money for Projecte Home Catalunya, an association that has devoted the last 20 years to proving that rehabilitation from addiction is possible, working in the field of treatment, prevention and awareness raising.

The concert programme features works by the following composers: J.Brahms (First symphony, fourth movement), J.S.Bach (The Passion according to Saint Matthew), W.A.Mozart (The Magic Flute), F.J.Haydn (The Creation) and I.Stravinsky (The Firebird). It’s an appealing programme for all types of public in aid of a worthy cause.
