British comedy-drama “Hector and the Search for Happiness” opens in cinemas

In the film, which opens on the 16th of January, Simon Pegg plays a psychiatrist who is unable to instil any degree of happiness in his patients

British comedy-drama Hector and the Secret of Happiness, starring Simon Pegg and directed by Peter Chelsom, opens in cinemas on the 16th of January. Pegg is known above all for his comic roles in films such as The World’s End and Paul, while Chelsom is the screenwriter of films such as Serendipity and Shall We Dance?.

In the film, Pegg plays the role of Hector, a psychiatrist whose couch is frequented by London’s most select clientele. Despite the fact that most of his patients lead what appear to be perfect lives, none of them are happy. Hector, however, is unable to make them happier, a fact that depresses him to the point where he decides to find out what it is that makes people happy by taking a trip around the world in search of the true secret of happiness.

In addition to Pegg, the film features a series of well-known actors and actresses including Rosamund Pike, also currently in vogue thanks to her starring role in Gone Girl, Christopher Plummer, Toni Collette, Jean Reno and Stellan Skarsgård.
