A tour of medieval Barcelona
Barcelona became a capital city during the Middle Ages, with constant growth in both the number of inhabitants and in the extension of the city itself. Its privileged geographical location meant that the city became the hub of the Principality of Catalonia. Buildings such as the Palau Reial and the church of Santa María del Mar, which were built during this period, are good examples of the growing importance of the city.
The Museu d’Història de Barcelona (MUHBA) has programmed a tour of Medieval Barcelona for all those interested in acquiring an in-depth knowledge of the medieval history of the city.
Setting out from the Palau Reial Mayor, participants will head towards the Santa María del Mar sector. Along the way they will discover the hidden treasures of the old city and acquaint themselves with the relationship between the architecture and the society of the era.
The cost of the tour is 8.45€ and inscription is required.
