Barcelona’s first Quidditch tournament

Quidditch became famous as the school sport in the Harry Potter series of novels

Swerving to avoid your rivals while mounted on a broomstick and trying to get the quaffle through the ring – it may sound outlandish but this sporting situation will sound familiar to millions of Harry Potter fans. Quidditch has now made the leap from fiction to the real world, with many of the magic rules of J.K. Rowling’s original invention.

And Quidditch has an ever-growing army of practitioners in Barcelona who will come together on the 2nd and 3rd of October to compete on the city’s first ever tournament, which is organised by local Barcelona Eagles Quidditch Team and is scheduled to take place in the Esports UB complex in the Zona Universitària.

The International Quidditch Tournament will feature non-stop games from 9am to 6pm with 12 teams from all over Europe, including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Norway and Turkey. Among the guests are prestigious teams like the Paris Titans, who are the reigning European champions, and The Mighty & Amazing Quercs, who were last year’s tournament winners.
