Barcelona, a meeting point for experts in creative industries

The meeting will take place in Disseny Hub and the Fabra & Coats Art Factory on 3rd and 4th April

The working group of the Industrias Creativas network Eurocities (major European cities) will visit Barcelona on 3rd and 4th April. Eurocities is a network founded in 1986 by the mayors of six major cities: Barcelona, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Lyon, Milan and Rotterdam with the aim of promoting the exchange of knowledge and ideas. Industrias Creativas' working group is responsible for promoting economic development through creative local cultures.

Members of the working group that are visiting the city can go to Barcelona Laboratory (BCNLab) and Barcelona Activa project as well as the Disseny Hub building.

 

They will meet Barcelona Activa on Thursday 3rd to see projects developed on entrepreneurship such as company incubators and “Create Media” that leads the creation and growth of companies to creative industries in Barcelona.

 

On the same day, Jaume Ciurana, Fifth Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture, Knowledge, Creativity and Innovation will welcome the delegation members in Disseny Hub for a viewing of  the Design Museum.

 

On day 4, the working group will have the opportunity to experience the work of BCNLab in a working session that will take place in the Fabra & Coats Art Factory. The session will be opened by Inés Garriga, director of Creativity and Innovation at the Barcelona Institute of Culture  and BCNLab promoter.

 

In this session they will visit the i2Cat Foundation performances, and projects such as Soundscapes, Specifi, Creatives Ring, Visionair, screen.ly, European projects from BCNLab and Apps & Culture. Finally, the economist Vittorio Galleto will make a presentation on the economic value of the creative sector.
