One of the tours explores the history of the postal service in Barcelona

Barcelona History Museum offers two special walking tours

One is focussed on the history of postal services in the city and the other on the Carmel neighbourhood.

Barcelona can be viewed and explored from many different points of view. A good example of that are these two walking tours offered by the Barcelona History Museum (MUHBA) in March, April and May. One of the tours is focussed on the history of the city’s postal service, while the other is on the Carmel neighbourhood.

Antonio Aguilar will be the guide of the postal services tour. Titled Six hundred years of post in Barcelona. From the Middle Ages to the 21st century, the tour will depart from Plaça d'Urquinaona (in front of Teatre Borràs) and will last three hours and will pass by a number of iconic sites related to the history of the city’s postal service. The tour is scheduled for the 25th of March and the 28th of May.

The Carmel related our is titled Up there above Barcelona. The Carmel shacks, and will be led by Jesús Martínez, Oscar Dhooge and Isidoro Martínez. Tours are scheduled for the 1st of April and the 6th of May and will also last around three hours. They will allow you to go back half a century in time, when some 3,000 shack dwellers lived in this area overlooking the city of Barcelona. Tours will depart from Plaça Sanllehy.

Registration is required to take part in these tours.
