'Au revoir les enfants' one of the Thursday night classics at Cinemes Verdi

Perhaps the best known film by French director Louis Malle.

Winner of a Golden Lion in the 1987 Venice Festival and nominated for Best Foreign Language Film the same year, 'Au revoir les enfants' is, perhaps, Louis Malle’s best known film and a project that the director had wanted to make for more than twenty years. Malle returned to France after a decade to shoot what was to become one of the best-known portrayals of Nazi-occupied France.

The film is the focus of the next Thursday night classics cycle at Cinemes Verdi, which aims to bring back to the screen a series of classic films from past eras. For example, on the 31st of March, cinemagoers will be able to enjoy a double feature with Aventure malgache and Bon voyage (1944), both by Alfred Hitchcock, while the 7th of April sees the screening of Jamaica Inn (1939), also by Hitchcock.
