10th edition of A Night at the Museum

Saturday 20 May sees museums open their doors for free until 1 am, with over sixty exhibitions, concerts, performances, workshops, guided tours and activities for all the family.

Saturday 20 May, between 7 pm and 1 am, sees a new edition of A Night at the Museum, the cultural celebration that gives free admission to over sixty temporary exhibitions and permanent collections in Barcelona and its metropolitan area.

During A Night at the Museum, you'll not only be able to visit the exhibitions, but there will also be concerts, dance and ball, dramatised tours, commented tours, audiovisual screenings, shorts, documentaries, films, poetry recitals, story-telling, drawing activities, photography activities, science and archaeology workshops, performances, musical theatre, circus, magic and much, much more! A whole range of cultural activities, with full details and venues here.

A Night at the Museum 2017 is growing and gaining venues. This year we welcome the Espai Fotogràfic Centelles, which is joining the party, along with the Baluard del Migdia bastion, the old Espai Bombers fire station, the Torre de la Creu mansion in Sant Joan Despí and, from the digital world, the Ramon Marull stamp collection.

From the port of Barcelona to Tibidabo and from the Besòs river to the Llobregat, A Night at the Museum proposes seven trails, six of which group museums by geographical proximity and public transport links. The seventh trail, called Creation & Museums, shows the ten productions made at the Creation Factories and designed especially for the museums where they take place.

You will need to book in advance for some venues, such as the Museu de les Arts Escèniques [Museum of the Performing Arts] (both for the guided tours and for the workshops), the Torre de la Creu mansion in Sant Joan Despí (for the dramatised tours) and the Picasso Museum. In this last case, tickets can be booked on their website from 18 May.

This year, A Night at the Museum will include two competitions. The first is a photography competition on Instagram. To take part, just tag your photographs on social media with the #bcnésmuseu hashtag. The prize will be a double ticket for the “David Bowie Is” exhibition, which can be visited from 25 May at the Design Museum, and a Barcelona Culture recycled canvas bag. In the second competition, which is new this year, you can win a trip to London for two people, which will include the National Art Pass, a card with admission to over 240 museums in Great Britain for a whole year. Between 20 and 28 May, you can take part on the A Night at the Museum website and in person. You'll find all the details here.

All the information is on the A Night at the Museum website and on the A Night at the Museum app. Also, on the night, you can also find information about everything on the Barcelona Culture Twitter feed.
