The Youth Research Showcase brought together students from 45 high schools to share their research work
The sixteenth edition of the Young Research Exhibition was held, a space where the authors of the most outstanding baccalaureate research projects chosen by Barcelona’s secondary schools meet at an event that allows them to show off their research and get to know the other selected proposals. For this edition, 52 students were grouped together, organised in round tables differentiated according to the scope of each research project, the originality of the final product or the use of external alliances. The event took place on 11 April at the Sant Martí Auditorium.
As a novelty with respect to previous editions, four workshops were incorporated: scientific, social, artistic and technological, with the collaboration of expert personalities who contributed their vision and offered students the opportunity to share their experiences throughout the research process.
This time the topics were diverse. They ranged from bioethics to the application of artificial intelligence in translation, and included studies on history, technology, art and psychology. Despite their diversity, the high quality of the research and the application of the scientific method were maintained. The aim of the Barcelona Youth Research Showcase is to recognise the effort and good work of students and teachers who tutor research projects, as well as to promote and disseminate the initiatives being carried out in the city in terms of research during the baccalaureate. For this reason, the works will be published in poster format on the websites of the Barcelona Education Consortium and the Education Services of the districts.
According to Anna Díaz, a teaching technician in the post-compulsory education department of the Barcelona Education Consortium, the exhibition “is a way of highlighting the different research processes applied by students in their work and the tutoring work carried out by teachers”. And she added the great importance of “providing the schools with a meeting place to get to know different ways of approaching research in various institutes”.
