"OBC + Gudrún Ólafsdóttir" concert, part of "Música Mercè"

OBC (Barcelona / symphonic)+ Gudrún Ólafsdóttir (Reykjavik / mezzosoprano)

The Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya is appearing at the Mercè Festival once again this year, conducted by its resident conductor, Kazushi Ono. This year, the symphony orchestra turns its gaze to Reykjavik, the guest city at the Mercè, and has invited an Icelandic mezzosoprano who hasn’t forgotten her roots to sing with them. She will be appearing in the Mercè concert, when, as well as pieces from Rossini’s William Tell Overture, an excerpt from Roman Carnival by Berlioz and well-known excerpts by Bizet, the orchestra will be performing works by Nordic composers, such as Norwegian Edvard Grieg, from which they will be playing the moving Solveig’s Song, from Peer Gynt. Pay special attention to Ave Maria, a piece by Icelandic composer Sigvaldi Kaldalóns that Gudrún Ólfsdóttir will be certain to perform with all her heart.
