The playwright Pau Mirós latest work, entitled Un tret al cap (A Shot in the Head), is one of the coproductions on the programme of the Grec 2017 Festival of Barcelona. The main festival venues are on the slopes of Mount Montjuïc, but other theatres in the city are also involved in the event, and these include the new Sala Beckett.

Accordingly, the Montjuïc Grec will be complemented by the City Grec, a programme comprising shows, often coproduced by the Grec Festival and in line with one or other of the different core themes that are established every year. Particular emphasis is also placed on providing support for productions by local companies and authors. These productions will be presented at some of the many Barcelona venues all over the city that habitually form part of the festival programme.

Once such venue is the Sala Beckett. At Grec 2017, this theatre will present a new work by the playwright Pau Miró. Entitled Un tret al cap, the play is scheduled to run from July 5 to 30.

Starring Emma Vilarasau and Mar Ulldemolins, the play asks what price we pay for the disappearance of personal or shared worlds. The plot revolves around a journalist who has become a thorn in the side of her newspaper. After she is sacked, she devotes herself to looking after her aged mother, who is gradually becoming demented.

Then she receives a visit from a young journalist sent to interview her. The veteran reporter will make a passionate defence of her view of her profession and, at the same time, of the world we live in.
