Rodolfo Mederos convida Martirio

Nit de tango

The tango is at the centre of a musical evening featuring the trio led by a master of the bandoneon, one of the world's most outstanding ensembles in the genre. The trio is accompanied by tango dancers and a special guest, one whose repertoire ranges from copla torch songs to jazz, not forgetting Argentinian music.

Few musicians can boast that such a legendary figure as Astor Piazzolla once gave them a bandoneon. Rodolfo Mederos can, however, and he can also mention that he has played alongside Piazzolla and other great Argentinian masters, including Osvaldo Pugliese. It is no surprise, either, that such a multi-faceted figure (Mederos has composed music for films and is also a teacher, a carpenter, a biologist and a collector) should always be open to different sounds to those he is most familiar with, and that he should have worked with many artists from our country, ranging from Joan Manuel Serrat to Miguel Poveda, amongst others. It is this vision of music that leads Mederos to the conviction that the tango is not just the sound of Buenos Aires, but also the soundtrack to any great city in the world. In this concert, the musician, composer and arranger will be accompanied by Armando de la Vega on Spanish guitar and Sergio Rivas on double bass, as well as a tango dancers couple. On vocals, his special guest will be Martirio, who performed at the Grec last year. Martirio is another versatile performer, the master of a thousand and one sounds from flamenco and bolero to, needless to say, the Argentinian tango.
