Parc de la Primavera

C Nou de la Rambla, 203

This is an example of how a much-needed facility for managing urban services could also be a pleasant green space.

When the cleaning depot was built, it offered an opportunity to deal with the lack of services such as areas for children to play or let dogs loose in. The children’s play equipment is now on the depot roof and there is also a large recreational area for dogs.
Concrete ramps provide an accessible link between Passeig de Montjuïc and the higher level, while two sets of steps and a path linked to the network of ramps improve access to the top of the gardens.

Biodiversity

The park’s vegetation is typical of the Mediterranean and made up of trees, shrubs, climbing plants, evergreens and grasses selected because they adapt well and are resistant to the urban environment and the climate. Such is the case with its boxwood (Buxus sempervirens), mastic trees (Pistacia lentiscus), rose bushes (Rosa sp) and lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), to name of few of the 23 species. Notable varieties of trees here include Aleppo pines (Pinus halepensis), white poplars (Populus alba), wild cherries (Prunus avium), St Lucie cherries (Prunus mahaleb), holm oaks (Quercus ilex) and cork oaks (Quercus suber).
