The 2018 Dau Barcelona's guest creators are Inka and Markus Brand, both around forty years old, a married German games-design couple. They have published more than 40 games they have been working on together since 2006, from their first Das große Dinosaurier-Spiel to their recent and critically acclaimed Ganges. They have received numerous accolades, including their most internationally prestigious to date, the Kennerspiel des Jahres, in the children’s board game (2012, for The Enchanted tower) and game for expert public versions (2017, for the first three parts of the Exit series, a successful board-game version of escape rooms). In 2017, they won the 2017 Prize for Best Creator at the Dau Barcelona Awards Ceremony.
Their children Lucas and Emely, aged 18 and 16 respectively, are following in their parents’ footsteps. We are indebted to them for The Cheating Moth, a curious game where cheating is part of the rules and which was included in the jury's recommendation list for the 2012 Kinderspiel des Jahres prize.
