Agrupació Sardanista l'Ideal de Clavé de les Roquetes

The Agrupació Sardanista l'Ideal de Clavé de les Roquetes was set up in 1960 by members of the Ideal de Clavé Choir. From the start their intention was to promote and hold sardana events in Nou Barris. They saw this circle dance as a way of integrating the people of that district – mainly immigrants from the south of Spain – into Catalan culture and traditions. The association was really well received and two years later it had 450 members in the sardana, traditional dance, mountain, table-tennis and social events' sections.

Their annual aplec sardanista was first held in 1969 but it really took in 1979, later becoming one of the most important gatherings in Catalonia. Various sections have been created around this, including the Banda Simfònica, which was set up with over 60 musicians. They have their own theatre group and two colles sardanistes, "Guineu" and "Ginjoler", which take part in competitions, and they also edit a quarterly magazine called Rotllana.

Over the year, in line with their founding principles, they organise a series of sardana events such as the annual gathering, 14 sardana sessions in Parc de la Guineueta, a concert at the Palau de la Música, a competition of little-known sardanes and short courses at their own centre, as well as in schools and civic centres.

The association offers its members a variety of social activities including outings to different places round Catalonia, meetings of old dance group members and Members' Day, plus the usual Carnival, Sant Joan, Christmas and New Year celebrations, among others.
