From 4 to 10 May, the ninth edition of Barcelona Poesia offers the ideal occasion to hear the best in Catalan poetry.
From 4 to 10 May, the city will fill with verses for a whole week. The ninth edition of Barcelona Poesia offers a series of highly varied activities to enjoy the art of words by day or by night. Renowned poets will also play their part, with recitals in unique spots.
A new element to this year’s event, the ninth edition of Barcelona Poesia, sees various activities take place in the courtyard of the Museu Marès. As from 6 pm every afternoon, from 4 to 10 May, established and up-and-coming voices will be reciting samples of the finest poetry. The same location will also be hosting the poetry book fair.
Other activities include a poetry recital by Ievguni Ievtuixenko and Joan Margarit in the auditorium in La Pedrera, and the event also pays homage this year to figures such as Ramon Llull and Carles Hac Mor with a variety of acts programmed. Montserrat Roig will also be remembered at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site and a tribute will be made to Anna Dodas, the young talent who was murdered in 1986. Barcelona’s civic centres are also joining in with the aim of promoting poetry among all sectors of the public and have programmed activities throughout the week.
The week winds up with the 12th International Poetry Festival, which this year features Mireia Calafell, Mohsen Emadi, Joumana Haddad, Violet Grigoryan, Easterine Kire and Francisco Brines. For full information click here.
