Apropa Cultura: a gateway to social inclusión

The third, activity-packed week of this event will take place from 23 to 29 October.

Ensuring that culture is accessible to everyone is the aim of Apropa Cultura Week, which is celebrating its third edition from 23 to 29 October. A total of 93 venues and events around Catalonia, including theatres, auditoria, museums and festivals are taking part through 200 programmed activities.

The week also sets itself the goal of raising awareness among the workers and users of these facilities, and among society in general, concerning the need to make culture accessible to everyone. One of the tools to achieve this is the campaign titled ‘In favour of falling at risk of social inclusion.

Apropa Cultura works throughout the year as a joint effort by the cultural facilities of Catalonia. The programme is aimed at social entities that work with people with disabilities or at risk of social exclusion, both in preventative and direct intervention areas and Apropa Cultura puts them in touch with cultural facilities and festivals throughout the territory.  Curently, the organisation has the support of the Department of Work, Social Affairs and Families and the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Area of Social Rights and the Department of Business, Culture and Innovation of Barcelona City Council , the Department of Welfare and Citizenship and the Department of Culture of the Diputació de Barcelona and "la Caixa" Welfare Projects. In parallel, Apropa Cultura has the support of each assigned team that makes an annual financial contribution to contribute to the sustainability of the program.
