Els castellers will be present in the Barcelona International Community Day

Writer Matthew Tree to open the 3rd edition of Barcelona International Community Day

This event is scheduled to take place at Barcelona’s Maritime Museum on Saturday 22 October

Following the success of the two previous editions – last year’s event saw the participation of almost 3,000 people from 87 different countries - Barcelona Activa is ready to another edition of Barcelona International Community Day at the city’s Maritime Museum on Saturday 22 October. It will be a day that’s packed with activities and information, organised in three main thematic areas: Landing in Barcelona, Working and doing business and Having fun and making contacts. The programme features plenty of conferences, exhibitors, discussions and workshops that are suited for the whole family, and culture also has an important place, of course. The opening speech, which is scheduled for 10.30 will be given by Matthew Tree, an English writer who has lived in Catalonia for 31 years and has just published Snug, his first novel in his native language.

Among the other cultural events on the programme, Barcelona Metropolitan will be giving a talk with the title Barcelona is culture: festivals, traditions and art, while Book Tasting Barcelona is organising a workshop titled A taste of books on Barcelona. Around midday, the museum garden will host a display of castellers – human towers – while throughout the day the ludoteca will be the place to find storytelling activities for children. Also on offer in the garden are country and swing dancing classes.

Admission is free but prior registration is required on the event’s website.
