Café Society

Woody Allen’s latest film, 'Café Society', comes to Barcelona’s cinema screens

The film is set in the New York of the 1930s

One of the most prolific filmmakers in recent film history and an untiring worker who writes and directs at least one film a year, Woody Allen is now back with Café Society, a film that will hit Barcelona’s cinema screens on Friday 26 August.

The film is set in Woody Allen’s iconic New York in the 1930s. The main character is Bobby Dorfman, a man from a decidedly dodgy family, complete with a gangster brother. Bobby is trying to break out of that reality and get to Hollywood to make a fortune in the movies. Once there, his Uncle Phil is working as an agent and hires him as an odd-job boy. He soon falls in love with a girl who is already engaged and begins a very special relationship.

Jesse Eisemberg is the star of the film, with Kristen Steward as the main co-star. The special effects of director of photography Vittorio Storano transform the film into a delightfully colourful work with its own pleasant atmosphere.
