“Wonderland” kicks off the Grec 2014 festival

On the 1st and 2nd of July the Gallim Dance Company will inaugurate of the 38th edition of the festival, which includes over 70 different proposals

For yet another year, Grec Festival de Barcelona arrives with a programme designed to boost the city’s cultural offering during the month of July. As always, the programme for this, the 38th edition, includes a variety of artistic styles and diverse genres and encompasses theatre, dance, music, circus and performances for children as well as parallel activities such as round-table discussions and conferences.

The inauguration for this year’s festival has been entrusted to the New York contemporary dance company, Gallim, who will make their debut in the city with Wonderland in the Teatre Grec. Directed by Andrea Miller, the performance is a reflection on pack mentality and attempts to reveal the dark side of success and the American atomic-age dream world using images that evoke entertainment, sporting events, communications and war. The company’s choreography is characterised by both its imagination and the technical demands it imposes on the performers.

The Grec 2014 Festival programme includes over 70 proposals which will be performed in venues throughout the city.

Wonderland can be seen on the 1st and 2nd of July beginning at 10 pm in the Teatre Grec. Prices range from 16€ to 30€ and tickets may be purchased here.
